A TALE OF TWO COVERS

at home in old sodus old brown coverat home-1 frtcvr (1)

Occasionally while perusing the web, I will run across my first book AT HOME IN OLD SODUS sporting a brown cover (with artwork depicting a photograph of a young father holding his baby) as opposed to the multi-color cover with little red-haired Amberley and the train pulling into the Sodus depot. I admit I see the brown cover less and less these days but it is still out there. Some may be confused to see the same book with two different covers so I thought I might offer an explanation.
The brown cover is from the original publishing of AT HOME IN OLD SODUS, published by another publisher before I decided to launch out under my own name of FIRST SCHOOL PRESS. I subsequently republished the book with a different ISBN, different cover and print formatting to match all of the subsequent books in the OLD SODUS series. The brown cover is from the same manuscript but is no longer available and not part of FIRST SCHOOL PRESS. All of the OLD SODUS books can be purchased through Amazon, Barnes & Noble et al. Thanks—MLJ

"Saturday, January 1st, 1848. — Read St. John. No church. Weather very mild, though snow fell in the night. Walking very bad, and I paid no visits out of the family. Had ***, ***, ***, ***, and ***, at dinner. A very merry evening with the young people. Played chess with my wife. Wrote a little in 'Oak Openings' to begin the year with."
